Dave Northey – Wigan

The Financial Management Centre

Dave is a Chartered Accountant with an Honors degree in Economics. He was a Financial Director for a large construction company before he embarked upon running his own TFMC business. Dave chose this road from a desire to be in control of his own success and being rewarded for his results. He also wanted the flexibility that comes from working for yourself.

Dave had a successful launch and gained six clients from his telemarketing leads alone. He has also gained a good return on his investment from following ongoing marketing campaigns, which is all helping him to grow at the rate he required. In the six months since his launch, Dave’s business has grown from zero to twenty two clients.

Amanda Williams – Milton Keynes North

The Financial Management Centre

Amanda qualified with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and brought impressive experience to the Milton Keynes territory which she has garnered from working as an Accountant at Grant Thornton, a UK top 10 Accountancy firm, to working as a financial analyst at a well known high street retail brand.

Amanda has followed the business model and worked extremely hard throughout her first year with TFMC. From this, she has built strong foundations upon which she can build her business and now, at the one year mark, Amanda already has a member of staff and is taking on a second territory to expand her business.

Kelly Derham - Horsham

Kelly Derham had been running a financial management business over the previous five years and decided the time had come for her to expand her business.

Kelly attended our 1 week training course which covered all the skills needed to run the franchise successfully. These areas include leadership, management, human resources, sales and marketing, our processes for bookkeeping, management accounts, payroll and other aspects of our services. After the specialised in-house training, Kelly Derham then passed our 'after training assessment' to begin trading as The Financial Management Centre Horsham.

While Kelly was attending the training course, our marketing department were busy preparing the launch campaign. Upon returning to the office Kelly was welcomed as a franchisee with a selection of leads from businesses that required services within her specified franchise area.

"Within 7 weeks of setting up I had over £35,000 worth of new business booked in. I still had over 8 leads to follow up. I now have three members of staff to help me with the new business and am searching for another,” enthuses Kelly.

After successfully following up all her leads, Kelly is operating way above targets and has made her first and second years very successful.

She continues to make a success of her third year with her number of clients still rising dramatically showing that initial launch growth can be maintained. Now she is starting to secure her first couple of outsourced Accounts departments from large local businesses. Each one of these will make a significant difference to the franchisee’s bottom line as they can be worth tens of thousands of pounds each.

Paul Dawson- Southend-on-Sea

Paul was not feeling challenged, after he had been working in legal accounting for 20 years. He knew he had more to offer and wanted to put his vast experience and his AAT and ICB qualifications to better use.

After reviewing his options, Paul felt that The Financial Management Centre franchise perfectly suited his requirements. He was so impressed with the franchise’s philosophy and values and under the proven and tested business model of helping small businesses have a better understanding of their financial position, he was convinced he could create a successful business.

Paul soon left full time employment to join the revolution and secured five clients within eight weeks of his launch. He was fully utilised within six months and recruited his first member of staff. Demand for his services is so high that he is already looking to recruit another.

Paul explains, “My launch was so well supported and brought me strong introductions to my target market. In each trading month since, I have been able to exceed the reasonable trading figures set with the backing of The Financial Management Centre team.

Paul is delighted to be on the way to realising his goals of growing an extremely successful business and to help further cement The Financial Management Centre brand as the market leader in financial management.

Louise Lloyd- Lymington

Louise is a Chartered Management Accountant with a diverse background such as working for a FTSE 100 company implementing enterprise-level accounting systems such as SAP. She had wanted to set up her own business but was worried that her lack of marketing and sales skills would hold her back from expanding her client base at the rate she would need to grow a viable business.

Louise soon discovered The Financial Management Centre’s franchise opportunity and found that their expert marketing department would take care of all of this for her. Louise explains, “I knew I would benefit immensely from adopting the proven and tested business model of a successful national brand that had put significant resources into research and marketing and also provided ongoing training and support. In addition, I was particularly drawn to the emphasis put on quality customer service.”

Louise Lloyd joined The Financial Management Centre in August 2008. She understood that providing small businesses with the up to date information they so dearly need would allow them to make informed business decisions, benefiting SMEs so much so, that the service she provides would become invaluable to them.

She rightly describes that, “small business owners are becoming more conscious of the management of their cash flow and understanding this can be done through a bookkeeping service that is cost-effective, whilst maintaining a high level of service.”

Therefore The Financial Management Centre Lymington has been experiencing a massive demand that has increased under the recession, in fact the entire network have been experiencing their best months yet.

Louise has fulfilled her short term goals of establishing a fine reputation as The Financial Management Centre Lymington and goes on to display her satisfaction of her choice of becoming a part of The Financial Management Centre franchise, as she describes her long term hopes as ‘world domination’!

Fiona Benham- Clydebank

The Financial Management Centre

Fiona is a member of the ICB and a part qualified Accountant, coupled with being a working mum with two children. Fiona needed more flexibility in her working life to give her a better work/life balance. She felt unappreciated by her boss for her hard work and who could not give her the flexibility she needed to create her ideal work/life balance.

Fiona had been working as the company Accountant for a Tour Operator when she found The Financial Management Centre franchise opportunity. She had wanted to become self-employed for a long time to give her more freedom but she was concerned about taking the leap on her own, especially when she has dependents to provide for. Fiona explains, “I knew that if I was to make this change I would have to grow very quickly to maintain the same level of income that I had when I was employed.”

Fiona found that the support she received from head office would give her the security she needed to start up her own business. Fiona states:

“The Financial Management Centre start-up campaign seemed like the ideal starting point. I also liked the back up from The Financial Management Centre with marketing, national referrals and the professional website and I knew that potential clients would feel reassured by the back up of a national company.”

Fiona’s business is growing and is not showing any sort of slowing during the recession, displaying how The Financial Management Centre business is recession proof. She now has the freedom to determine her own hours and never has to miss a school play again! Fiona is well on the way to building a very successful business after less than a year’s trading.
